What is the AAU Club Membership?
AAU Club Membership is for organizations incorporated or unincorporated such as youth basketball teams or clubs or school based teams. Club memberships are divided into 3 different levels. The AAU Membership year runs September 1st through August 31st of each year.
Level 1 - Annual Cost $30
- Receive E-mails from Michigan AAU Girls Basketball & the National Girls Basketball office regarding players looking for teams, event offerings, association based events, district meetings, ect
- Eligible for insurance coverage for your team and coaches
- Eligible to vote at appropriate district annual meetings
- Eligible to receive sanction for practice insurance
- Eligible to participate in Regional and State tournament
- Eligible to participate in the National AAU tournament
Level 2 - Annual Cost $60
- Same as level 1
- Eligible to host an AAU Sanctioned event
- May use AAU name and trademarks for sanctioned events only
Level 3 - Annual Cost $300
- Same as level 1 and 2
- Only for unincorporated clubs
- Eligible for tax - exempt status
- Eligible to receive tax-exempt donations
- Eligible to become sales tax exempt in Michigan
What is the AAU Athlete Membership?
Membership is required to participate in all AAU sanctioned events (regional, state or national events). The Youth Athlete Membership with Extended Coverage option allows athletes to participate in AAU sanctioned events as well as Non-AAU Sanctioned events.
Youth Athlete Membership $12
- An athlete who will just be participating in AAU-sanctioned events
Youth Athlete Membership Extended Coverage (AB) $14
What is the Non-Athlete Membership?
A non-athlete is a person who participates in the AAU in an administrative role such as a coach, instructor, manager, tournament director, volunteer, official, administrator, bench personnel, or manager and does not compete as an athlete.
Non-Athlete Membership $14
- A non-athlete who will just be participating in AAU-sanctioned events.
